Michael "Big Mike" Alan Kingbird

Michael "Big Mike" Alan Kingbird, 64, of Bemidji, MN died Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center.

Christian Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemdiji, and one hour prior to the service. Interment following cremation will be at the St. Antipas Episcopal Cemetery in Redby, MN.

He was born on February 13, 1956 in Red Lake, MN the son of McKinley and Marlys (Burt) Kingbird. At the age of 5 his family moved to Circle Pines, MN where he was raised and educated. He was a member of the National Honor Society at Centennial High School where he graduated in 1974. He was a tremendously gifted athlete in High School and College. Excelling in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. He was an MVP in Football, and ranked as the number one High School baseball pitcher in the Twin Cities. He made the Dean's List attending Bethel Bible College and Seminary studying Business Management, and Bemidji State University studying Physical Education and coaching, receiving Bachelor's degrees from both schools in 1994. He retired as a teacher from the Northwest Juvenile Center in July of 2020. He loved to play cards, especially poker. He enjoyed movies and was always on the go traveling. He loved to treat his family and friends with trips and gifts. He loved to spend a lot of time with his granddaughter Kaydance.

He is survived by his: Children, Stacy Williams, Travis Wabange,

He was preceded in death by his son Darcy Green Kingbird, father McKinley Kingbird, mother Marlys Kingbird, sister Karen Kingbird, and brother Scott Kingbird.
