Lucille J (Jourdain) Auginash

August 14, 1935 ~ February 24, 2020 (age 84)

Lucille J. Auginash, age 84, of Redby, Minnesota journeyed home from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND on February 24th, 2020. Lucille was born at home to Baptiste and Elizabeth (Bellanger) Jourdain in Redby, MN on August 14, 1935. She was united in marriage to Richard "Bargie" Auginash in the spring of 1960.

Lucille was the proud mother of eight children, 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, some of whom called her "Grandma 2", and all of whom love her very much. In her younger days she was a very good softball player, hitting many homeruns; she also liked camping out at powwows and picking blueberries. Lucille also traveled to many softball games to watch her grandchildren play as the years progressed. She loved her thrift stores and garage sales, when she could go. Lucille loved playing bingo, shopping and buying gifts for everyone, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had an awesome sense of humor, telling jokes, silly stories (like telling her grandchildren that Elvis Presley was their grandpa) and making people laugh. She was employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs for over 20 years. She also was the Commissioner for the Red Lake Housing Authority, where she was able to travel to many different places, and the Enrollment Committee of the Red Lake Nation. Lucille also traveled all over as an Ojibwe Hymn Singer for many years.

Family that Lucille is reunited with are her parents, Baptiste and Elizabeth Jourdain; her husband, Richard Auginash; a son, Russell "Nate" Jourdain; two daughters, Arlene and Delores "Jeannie" Auginash; two granddaughters, one great great granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters.

She leaves behind her five children, Beverly Schoenborn, Deb (Chuck) Barrett, Gary Auginash, Ruth Auginash and Ann (Loren) Auginash; step-son, Jerry Auginash; three grandchildren that she raised, Maria and Lil' Rich Auginash and Jeffery Barrett; 18 more grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Gibbs and Pat Morgan; two brothers, Joe and Richard Jourdain; many nieces, nephews, other children who knew her as Grandma, many friends and co-workers.

A wake for Lucille will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th at the Redby Community Center and continue until her 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the Redby Community Church on Saturday, February 29th, 2020.
