Esperanza "Espy" Kier

Esperanza "Espy" Kier, age 29, of Ogema, MN, died unexpected on Friday, February 21, 2020, at her home.

Esperanza Maria, the daughter of Indanis Kier, was born on February 16, 1991, in Minneapolis, MN. Espy grew up in the twin cities area and also spent much time up north in Naytahwaush, MN, with family. They later moved to Naytahwaush where Espy attended school. She made many lifelong friends, one in particular, Hawk Oppegard, she would later fall in love with. Hawk and Espy lived for a few years in Roy Lake, MN, and have spent the last serval years raising their children in Ogema. She was employed at the Shooting Star Casino in food services for many years. She loved people and her outgoing personality was a great fit as a waitress. More recently, Espy was a busy mom with five children to care for. She really like being outside, taking family car rides, and hanging out with friends. Espy simply enjoyed her life and her family. Her contagious smile and infectious laugh will truly be missed.

Espy is survived by her fiancé, Hawk Oppegard of Ogema; her children: Moses Gomez, Ahdoniz Oppegard, Joseph Oppegard, Raider Oppegard, and Chazz Oppegard; her father, Joe Flowers; her siblings: Jordan, Jazmine, Dwayne, and Lakeska; and several close cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Roberta Kier, and her mother, Indanis Kier.

An All-Night wake will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the White Earth Community Center in White Earth, MN, and continue with Traditional Services through Friday, February 28, 2020, all at the Community Center.
