Edna Marie Staples, 83, of Cass Lake, MN died Sunday, January 26, 2020 at her home in Cass Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Cass Lake White Earth Community Center in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the Cass Lake White Earth Community Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment following cremation will be in the Spring, at the Fairbanks Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

She was born on October 22, 1936 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of Paul and Agnes (Lussier) Sayers. She was raised and educated in Red Lake, MN. She married LeRoy Staples Sr. on December 2, 1955. They started a family and she drove for the Red Lake Hospital Transportation department. In 1962 she moved with her family to Minneapolis, where she continued to work and raise her family. They moved back to Red Lake in 1977, to Bemidji in 1979, and to Cass Lake in 1980 where she lived the rest of her life. She drove for Leech Lake Gaming for many years until her retirement at age 72. She enjoyed going to the Casino, playing Bingo, and attending Pow-Wows. She was a music lover who enjoyed listening to Country Oldies. She loved being around her Grandchildren and was very proud of all of them.

She is survived by her:Children,Carol Staples of Cass Lake, MN,

Donna "Jeannie" (Gary) Staples of Red Lake, MN,

LeRoy Staples of Cass Lake, MN,

Leon Staples Sr. of Cass Lake, MN,

Ramona Staples of Cass Lake, MN,

Arlene (Rick) of Cass Lake, MN,

Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, husband LeRoy A. Staples Sr., infant son John, and son Ronald Joseph Staples Sr.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Edna's family.

Active Casketbearers will be: Donovan Staples, Curtis Isham Jr., Leroy Fairbanks-Staples, Ronald Staples Jr., Leon Staples, Jarred Pemberton, and Vincent Graves. Alternates will be: Allen James, Clinton John, Andrew Charles, Jon Man, and Brandon Leon.
