Choctaw STAR Student Rewards for Fall Semester

DURANT, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation STAR Program rewards students who make that extra effort with their schoolwork. Choctaw students, second grade through 12th grade, bringing home all A’s on their report cards will each receive a $25 gift card, while a report card with at least all B’s nets a $10 gift card. In addition, a student with perfect attendance can collect another $25 gift card.

The program has proven to be an incentive for accomplishment, according to Jason Campbell, STAR Program director. Parents who were polled showed that 91.9 percent feel the STAR Program has had a positive effect on their children’s grades.

More than 22,000 students in 47 states are enrolled in the STAR program. Home-schooled students are participating, also. The Choctaw Nation has invested more than $3 million in the STAR Program and budgeted in excess of $300,000 for the 2019-2020 school year.

STAR applications are being accepted until March 1 for 2019 fall semester report cards and attendance records. For additional information about STAR, visit the website http://www.choctawnation.com/star-program.
