WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 6 PM CST SATURDAY.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northwest and west central Minnesota.

* WHEN...From noon Friday to 6 PM CST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of west central and northwest Minnesota.

DAY ONE...Tonight

Wind chills will be as low as 35 below zero at times overnight. Gusty southeast winds will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

Gusty southeast winds will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas on Friday morning. Snow will spread northward Friday with steady snow Friday night into Saturday. Accumulations of 4 to 7 inches expected. Some blowing snow Saturday in open areas.

Partly cloudy, with a low around -19. East southeast wind 9 to 11 mph.

Snow, mainly after 11am. Patchy blowing snow between noon and 3pm. High near 21. Southeast wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Friday Night

Snow. Low around 7. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Snow likely, mainly before noon. Patchy blowing snow before 2pm, then patchy blowing snow after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -17. West northwest wind 8 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
