Red Lake Lady Warriors (11th) lose home opener to Walker-Hackensack-Akley (7th) 86-63 - P29

Lady Warriors JV won their game, while 6-8th grade girls games were also played

RED LAKE - The Red Lake Lady Warriors, ranked 11th in the State, held their Home Opener on Thursday, December 5, 2019, against 7th ranked Walker-Hackensack-Akley. Red Lake had beat Nevis on Tuesday, while WHA had won their first game on November 26th against Menahga.

Red Lake started off slow in the first half, missing several shots and getting out-rebounded by the taller WHA girls. But they kept plugging away and trailed by just 7 points at the half, 37-30.

In their first game against Nevis they also started off slow, but finished that game much better in the second half.

There was a reason Walker-Hackensack-Akley was ranked 7th in the state, and they showed it in the second half, as they outscored Red Lake 49-33, taking apart the Lady Warrior's full-court press and making shots from both inside and outside.

Four WHA girls ended up in double figures. Bri Raddatz led all scorers with 22 points on the night, followed closely by Emma Deegan with 21, Justine Day hit for 14 and Megan Benjaman added 10.

Gerika Kingbird led the Lady Warriors with 11 points, Autumn Holthusen and Latayla Pemberton both had 8 points, and Kelanna McClain and Emma Kingbird both added 7 points.
