Red Lake's Junior Varsity girls battles to the end to take the win 49-45 over MIB - P7

Lady Warriors now 3-7 on the season with 79-46 loss to #3 in Class A, Mountain-Iron-Buhl

RED LAKE, MN - The Red Lake Lady Warriors hosted Mountain-Iron-Buhl on Saturday, January 4, 2020. MIB was ranked #3 in State Class A basketball with a record of 5-2.

The Lady Warriors started off good, keeping pace with MIB in the first half, but by it's end were down 45-30.

Red Lake tried to come back in the second, but could only score 16 points in the half, while MIB kept attacking to hit 34. The final score ended at 79-46.

Both Gericka Kingbird and Autumn Holthusen had 14 for the Lady Warriors, while Kelanna McClain finished with 8 points.

Jordan Zubich led all scorers for MIB with 19, Ava Butler had 12 and Mia Ganyo, Brooke Niska and Jacie Kvas each had 10 points.

Red Lake was 9 of 23 from the freethrow line, while MIB was 7 of 16.

The loss moved Red Lake down to 3-7 on the season, while MIB moved to 6-2.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Mahnomen on January 13th, host Kelliher-Northome on January 16th and travel to Clearbrook on January 17th.

Prior to the Varsity game, Red Lake's JV played MIB in a tight game that saw several lead changes throughout both halfs of play. Red Lake held on to win 49-45.
