Walz proposes borrowing $447 million for state's colleges, universities

In the third stage of his public works proposal rollout, Gov. Tim Walz presented his plan to improve higher education infrastructure across the state. In a small nursing lab at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, the governor made his pitch for borrowing big to cover the needs of the state's universities and colleges.

Minnesota is falling behind on its upkeep of college and university buildings, Gov. Tim Walz said Monday as he pitched $447 million in public borrowing that he said is critical to develop a strong workforce.

Walz was flanked by higher education leaders at Anoka-Ramsey Community College as he called for significant borrowing to sustain the state's tradition of strong higher education.
