Officer shot in Waseca is gravely wounded; suspect also was shot

Waseca Police Chief Penny Vought addressed reporters Tuesday. Behind Vought is Drew Evans, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension superintendent. A Waseca police officer and a suspect were shot Monday night after reports of a disturbance in a residential neighborhood, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

Waseca, Minn. – Penny Vought took a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh as she stepped to the lectern.

"This is the worst nightmare a law enforcement agency can face," the Waseca police chief said at a news conference Tuesday morning in the city's public safety building. "And we're living it right now."
