Fishing fight on the Klamath

An appellate court decided a fishing dispute between the Yurok Tribe and a member of the Resighini Rancheria should be kicked back down to district court, but both parties had a different take on the ruling.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Dec. 12 that the district court “abused its discretion in dismissing the Yurok Tribe’s” claim against Resighini Rancheria member Gary Dowd for illegally fishing within the Yurok Reservation and should allow court proceedings to continue.
