Little Shell Tribe federal recognition passes Congress, headed to president's desk

The Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana has fought a decades-long battle to win federal recognition. Now, that effort is on its way to President Donald Trump’s desk.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate gave final approval to the National Defense Authorization Act, a major defense funding bill that included Little Shell recognition as an amendment. The U.S. House passed the bill last week.
