Joseph Elliot Nadeau, "Bezhigoogahbow" (Stands Alone), of the Migizi Doodem, age 23, of Bemidji, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on November 30, 2019 from his home in Bemidji, MN. He was born in Bemidji, MN on October 9, 1996 to Elaine Rea and Joseph Nadeau.

Joseph, a beautiful young man, grew up with his mother and extended family on the Leech Lake Reservation. He attended school in Cass Lake, graduating from Cass Lake/Bena High School in 2015. He enjoyed attending powwows in the summer and playing video games. He went on to graduate from the Leech Lake Tribal College in 2019. Joseph worked various construction jobs and as maintenance for the Cedar Lakes Casino. Joseph was a kind-hearted soul who lived life to the fullest, always bringing a smile wherever he went. He was compassionate and caring and would help a stranger if needed. Joseph was always positive, kind, courteous and respectful. The vibrations of his positive outlook was infectious on everyone. Joseph was well known for his long beautiful hair which was his strength. He was a leader among his friends, and they looked up to him; not because of his stature but because of his quiet strength. Joseph was a wonderful and proud father, since the day of his birth, his son was his pride and joy. He was a great father, son and man who will be truly missed.

He is welcomed to the spirit world by his grandparents, Gregorio "George" and Mary Rea, Clem Nadeau, Phyllis Wildermuth and "grandma" Ardith Morrow; uncles, John Morrow, Richard Kaiser, Clifton Morrow, Timothy Foreman and William Nadeau; aunt, Danette Nadeau and cousin, Travis Holappa.

Joseph is survivied by his son, Mateo Elliot Nadeau; the love of his life, Kayla Robinson; parents, Elaine Rea and Joseph Nadeau; brother, Tanner Nadeau; sisters, Jordana Davis Nadeau and Jessica Nadeau; uncles, George (Wally) Rea, Clem Nadeau, Jr. and Pete Nadeau; aunts, Jane (Darryl) Bruce, Maria Rea (Gary Gehrke), Marlene Poukka, Victoria Reich, Kim (Lyle) DeLuna, Jackie (Alan) Blessing, Tina Nassau, Sherri (Jaime Ramirez) Jones and Kathy (Rene) Caraballo, special cousins, Cynthia Guernsey, Kyle, Beth and Cherelle Brown, Daniel Morrow, Sheena (Mike) Donnell, Shae'lin Clark and Natayah Watson; numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

A wake for Joseph will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Wednesday, December 4th all being held at the Prescott Community Center in Cass Lake, MN. Michael Dahl will be his Spiritual Advisor. Pallbearers for Joseph will be Frankie Robinson, Elliot Robinson, Alex Oothoudt, Anthony Pemberton, Alex Harper and Kyle Brown. Alternate pallbearers are Michael Robinson and Joe Kettle, Jr. His honorary pallbearers are Tanner Nadeau, Glen Fisher, Darian Staples, Will Robinson, Davonte Staples, Lucas Hilton, Forrest Bruce, Alexis Rea and Aisha Sargent. Interment will be in Boy River Cemetery at Boy River, MN.
