Henry "Hank" Joseph Sherer-Nason

July 3, 1940 ~ November 20, 2019 (age 79)

Henry "Hank" Joseph Sherer-Nason, "Gaabaabinesi" which means "Great Bird", age 79 of Cass Lake, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN. Hank was born to Angeline (Nason) Charwood on July 3rd, 1940 down by the riverbank in Ball Club, MN.

Hank was a wonderful man in too many ways to list, but we will try. He was an excellent husband to his bride of 38 years, Henrietta and a great dad to his children. Hank took very good care of his family; they didn't want for anything and was equally supportive of his whole family. He gave more of himself than he needed to but did it willingly; such as raising three of his great grandchildren right up until the day of his passing. Hank was known for sharing old time stories about the Leech Lake reservation and telling goofy jokes. He always had time to stop and talk to people, loved country music and going to the casino. Some of Hank's favorite treats were marshmallows, Jolly Ranchers, pecan, banana cream and coconut cream pies. He was very proud of his native heritage and was fluent in the language; being a pipe carrier and loved going to powwows.

After attending trade school to become an electrician, Hank enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent six years fixing the electrical systems of Air Force jets; something he was extremely proud of. Even though Hank was a jack of all trades and could fix anything; his expertise was as a master electrician, working for Embridge for more than 30 years before he retired in 1995. Hank will be deeply missed by everyone who know him.

Family that Hank has been reunited with are his mother, Angeline Charwood, son, Douglas Arthur Roberts, Jr .; sister, Frances Sherer; brothers, Clem Nason, Francis and Dennis Charwood; great grandson, Koda Rain Roberts and son-in-law, Michael Howard, Sr.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Henrietta Sherer-Nason of Cass Lake; daughters, Debbi Roberts of Bemidji, Terie (Howard) Jones, Stephanie (Jose Garcia) Nason and Risa Sherer all of Cass Lake; son, Shaw L. Sherer-Nason, Sr. of Cass Lake; special cousin, Lila George; special friend, Douglas Arthur Roberts, Sr, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
