Burton Blaine Robertson, "Maka ǹa Kahomni Akicita" (He Who Walks the World Warrior) 69, of Fort Totten,ND passed away at his home with his loved ones in Fort Totten, ND.

Burton Robertson was born on October 24, 1949 at the Fort Totten Indian Hospital, Fort Totten, ND. His parents were the late Emerson and Lorraine (Lambert) Robertson. Burton went to school at Waller High School in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Waller High on June 17, 1968. After high school, Burton enlisted into the US Marines Corps where he served in the Vietnam War. He received medals and a combat action ribbon for his service. Burton was honorably discharged after he was injured in the military.

Burton joined Violet Dubois into marriage on August 23, 1974. They were blessed with five kids and were proud of their children; Travis, Melanie, Shelly, Burton James (BJ) and Lorraine. Afterwards, Burton furthered his education and received his Associates of Arts (2 year) degree at Little Hoop Community College in May 1977. He also attended UND in Grand Forks, ND.

Burton was employed at Four Winds Community School for over 30 years where he worked in various positions such as paraprofessional and Attendance coordinator. He loved working with the youth in the community. He also worked for the Spirit Lake Tribe as the Veteran Services Coordinator.

Burton was an avid sports fan, and a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and the Cubs. Burton loved to ride his bike and participated in races. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Burt loved to read books and newspapers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorraine and Emerson; brother Marty Robertson; sisters Julie Robertson and Delia Romona; nephew Johnny Robertson; uncles Mark Lambert and Charles Lambert; grandchildren, Destiny and Baby Travis Dubois.

Burton is survived by his loving family. His wife, Violet "Pinky/Pinks", his five children Travis, Melanie, Shelly, BJ, and Lorraine, brothers Jeremiah, Matthew and John Robertson, sisters Roberta Smith, Jean Robertson and Laura Robertson, uncles Vernon Lambert and Wilbur Robertson, 27 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers are Gary Smith, Travis Dubois, Mitch Azure, Jordan Azure, Gianni Robertson, Bryce Morin, Lance Morin, Gage Dauphinais, Donte WhiteBuffalo, Robert Cavanaugh Jr., Truth Robertson, Justice Robertson, Emerson Robertson and Tumani Robertson.

Visitation for Burton will be on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Seven Dolors will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services for Burton will be on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crow Hill Recreation Center, rural Fort Totten with Father Charles Leute OP officiating. Burial will be in St. Jerome's Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Spirit Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547.
