Position Description: Mail and Freight Clerk

Supervisor: Business Manager

Bargaining Group: Minnesota Association of School Employees

Terms: Fulltime – 12 month contract

Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to mail, deliver, and distribute School District communication, freight and supplies in an orderly, efficient and timely manner.

Mail and Freight Clerk

1. Pick-up the District mail from the Red Lake Post Office, sort mail by building and deliver mail to all designated school sites.

2. Open and check in freight items against packing slips. Deliver freight to appropriate site.

3. Deliver all requested supplies from the central warehouse to the appropriate site. A detailed log of inventory (purchases and deliveries) shall be kept and delivered to the district office at the end of every month.

4. Pickup mail from the designated sites and sort at the District Office. Apply appropriate postage and deliver to Red Lake Post Office.

5. Maintain District posting machine and provide Business office with monthly report of postage by building.

6. Post Board of Education notices, employment notices, etc. throughout communities in conjunction with mail/freight deliveries.

7. Deliver notices/information to school board members and obtain signatures.

8. Assist the District Office with maintenance.

9. Assist the Technology Coordinator with physical moving of equipment.

10. Travel to Bemidji once a week to pick-up supplies for the District.

11. Assist in the unloading of delivery trucks

1.1 All mail is picked up on a regular basis.

1.2 Mail is sorted properly and given to the correct building.

1.3 All freight items are verified by the packing slips.

1.4 All freight items are delivered to the proper building.

1.5 Supplies requested are distributed in a timely fashion.

1.6 Mail is picked up and distributed from all buildings.

1.7 Posting machines are properly maintained.

1.8 Monthly reports of postage by building are provided to the Business Manager.

1.9 Board of Education notices are properly distributed throughout the communities.

1.10 Delivery notices and information is provided in a timely fashion with proper signatures.

1.11 Supplies are picked up for the District.

1.12 Delivery trucks are unloaded in a safe and effective manner.

1. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor; including but not limited to:

a. Other duties as assigned.

b. Maintain confidentiality

c. Attend training as assigned

d. Prompt daily attendance

e. Adheres to district policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. High School Diploma

2. Some College

3. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, remain seated at workstation for long periods of time and perform repetitive movements using various office technologies. Perform repetitive bending and lifting.

4. Valid drivers' license.

5. Good communication skills, personal appearance and a cooperative attitude required

6. Willingness to assist where needed and the ability to establish good working relationships is essential.
