Meet-and-greets set for college students interested in autism, mental health, disability direct support careers

The Minnesota Department of Human Services, higher education facilities and local providers are hosting information sessions for students interested in human services careers. Staff from a variety of local and state agencies that provide services to people with developmental disabilities, autism and related conditions and mental health disorders will be on hand to answer questions about:

• Career paths

• Internship opportunities

• Current job opportunities

• Educational and vocational experience.

These events are aligned with other state efforts to increase the workforce in critical human services areas.

The sessions will run in October as follows:

• St. Peter: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, Gustavus Adolphus College, Beck Academic Hall, Student Center Drive.

• Minneapolis: 10 to 11 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, at Augsburg University, Christensen Center, Suite 100.

• Rochester: 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, at University of Minnesota-Rochester, University Square, third floor student commons area.

Students in the areas of psychology, applied behavior analysis, child development, social work, special education, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy and other human services are encouraged to attend.
