Walz says Minnesota will adopt stricter emission standards for cars and trucks

September 26, 2019

Glen Stubbe – Star Tribune

Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan held a news conference to announce major energy and climate policy initiatives in March 2019.

Minnesota will adopt stricter fuel-efficiency standards for cars, trucks and SUVs, taking sides with California in a battle with the Trump administration over energy conservation and air pollution.

Minnesota would become the 15th state to embrace California's fuel-efficiency laws, which require auto manufacturers to meet escalating mile-per-gallon targets for passenger vehicles through 2025.
