Marie Roman, age 55, of Naytahwaush, MN, died Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Marie Margaret Bush lovingly known to many as “Muggs” was born February 27, 1964, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Joseph and Mavis (Wadena) Bush. Growing up she lived in Minneapolis, MN, before her family moved backed to the White Earth Reservation. She attended grade school in Detroit Lakes, Naytahwaush and later attended Mahnomen High School. Following high school, Marie furthered her education at Detroit Lakes Technical College for Fashion Merchandising. As a young woman, Marie met the love of her life, Steve Roman. The couple made their home together in Naytahwaush and were blessed with four children: Steve Jr. Natalie, Madalyn, and Mallary. Steve and Muggs were united in marriage in 1999 and later divorced but they spent 38 years together and have always remained close friends. Muggs was a loving wife and mother and grandmother. After raising her family, she was employed at the Shooting Star Casino as a blackjack dealer, before retiring due to health reasons.

Marie cherished spending time with family, especially time spent spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed beading, making dream catchers and hand sewn regalia. Marie also enjoyed setting up camp and attending pow wows and traveling. She has seen a lot of the country on her many traveling adventures, and her most precious memories where made with family.

Marie is survived by her son, Steve Jr. (Leona) of Dilworth, MN; daughters: Natalie of Buffalo, NY, Madalyn of Bemidji, MN, and Mallary of Fargo, ND; 9 grandchildren: Stephanie, Arianna, Nikolai, Hanna, Adalina, Gabriel, Brielle, Max and Everly; father of her children, lifelong companion and best friend, Steve Roman, also of Fargo; mother, Mavis Bush; sisters: Jana Keezer, Diane Bush, Loretta “ Pebbs” Giard; brother, Joe “Duke” Bush Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, Joseph Bush Sr.; sister, Teri Londo; and many extended family.

A Funeral Service will take be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex in Naytahwaush.
