Rodney Dean Allen, "Aine Dah Gee Waub" of the Bear Clan, began his spiritual journey on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, with his family by his side. Rodney was born on November 28, 1953 in Cass Lake, MN the son of James and Vina (Bongo) Allen.

Rodney was a Veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren who were very special to him. He was their best friend and it showed when they would go to him for anything. Rodney had a great sense of humor, he enjoyed western movies, Native American history, an avid reader and was a fan of the MN Vikings and Twins. Rodney also loved his Ojibwe language. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and ricing. His career centered around his artistic talent in which his artwork was featured in Wisdom Steps, holiday greeting cards, post cards and paintings. Rodney will be missed by all his family and friends.

The family that Rodney joins are his father and mother, sons Rodney Allen, Jr. and Matthew Allen, brother Gary Allen and his significant other, Frances Sherer.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are: his children James Dean Allen, Sr. and Shanowa Allen; grandchildren James, Jr., Josh and Vina; brothers Jim Allen and Michael Allen; sisters Gloria (Tom) Dudley, Margaret (Rocky) Papasodora, Lila Robinson, Betsy (Ernest) Allen, Aileen (Brady) Allen and many nieces and nephews.

A wake for Rodney will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019, and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Monday, September 23, all held at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Father Matthew Cobb will officiate. Pallbearers for Rodney will be Romondo Papasodora, Andrew Robinson, Blaine Reichy, Jesse Papasodora, Gary Allen and Tyler Larsen. Alternate pallbearers will be Jarod Allen, Terry Robinson, Anthony Robinson and Michael Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Papasodora, Tom Dudley, Marti Bobolink, all his siblings, nieces and nephews. Interment will be held in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery at Old Agency following the lunch at the Vet's Building.
