Melvin Whitefeather, Sr., "Aandokwaaneyaush" (Crow Feather) age 69, of Ponemah, MN and the Kingfisher Clan, began his journey to the spirit world on Friday, September 20th, 2019 from Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Melvin was born in Red Lake, MN on February 21st, 1950 to Jerome and Amelia (Johnson) Whitefeather.

Melvin was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Red Lake Warriors Basketball team and cheering on his beloved Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed scratch offs, cutting his grass, fishing, playing bingo and solitaire and making his nightly calls to family and friends.

He had worked as an EMT for over 30 years with the Red Lake Ambulance Service and was a supervisor at the Ponemah station.

Melvin is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents, Jerome and Amelia Whitefeather; sister, Carolyn Whitefeather; brothers, Vernon and Alan Whitefeather and granddaughter, Bethany Perkins.

Family he leaves behind are his son, Melvin Whitefeather, Jr .; daughters, Tracy and Dawna Whitefeather and Janelle (Kevin) Patterson; brother, Bobby (Kathy) Whitefeather; sisters, Donna and Eunice Whitefeather; grandchildren, Karelynn Patterson and Kevin Patterson, Jr., adopted grandchildren, James Johnson, Sophie and Khloe Barrett; aunt, Betty Schoenborn; sister-in-law, Jean Whitefeather and numerous family and friends.

Wake services for Melvin will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 24th and continue until his 12:00 p.m. traditional services on Wednesday, September 25th all to be held at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Steve Jackson will be his Waa-maajaa'iwed. Pallbearers for Melvin will be Kyle Whitefeather, Ryder Whitefeather, Arrow Whitefeather, Tyus Whitefeather, Kevin Patterson, Sr., Evan Thomas and Bruce Taylor. His honorary pallbearers are Bobby Whitefeather, Jr., Rachele Donnell, Wayne Johnson, Sr., Scott Perkins, all his former EMT coworkers and nurses.
