Peterson receives Growth Energy's 2019 "Fueling Growth" Award

WASHINGTON – House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin C. Peterson received the 2019 "Fueling Growth" Award from Growth Energy for his leadership advocating for renewable fuels.

"Biofuels remains an important market for farmers in my district and American agriculture," said Peterson. "I'm honored to receive this award and will continue pressing this administration to follow the law and support the growth of the biofuels industry."

As a Co-Chair of the Congressional Biofuels Caucus, Chairman Peterson continues to be a champion for biofuels. Most recently, Peterson introduced H.R. 3006, the Renewable Fuel Standard Integrity Act of 2019, a bill that addresses the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) continued abuse of granting small refinery exemptions (SREs), which takes millions of gallons of biofuels out of the marketplace. The legislation establishes an annual June 1st deadline for refineries to submit SRE petitions from their RFS blending obligations. The goal is to give EPA more than enough time to reallocate waived gallons back into the marketplace, which the EPA is already required to do by law.
