PRIMARY FUNTION:

To provide daily nutritious traditional meals for the Waasabiik Ojibwemotaadiwin Immersion Program while maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment. Reports to Immersion Director, part time, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Work with program staff in planning and preparing traditional foods menus.

• Responsible for preparing, handling and serving food in a safe and sanitary manner.

• Complies with proportional serving, and requirements for Early Childhood Nutrition.

• Inventories food on a weekly basis to coincide with ordering.

• Tracks weekly invoices to ensure compliance with food budget.

• Maintains and upkeeps kitchen.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School or G.E.D. Certificate

• One (1) year cooking experience preferred.

• Demonstrate understanding and working knowledge of proper techniques for food.

• Must be or become CPR/First Aid Certified.

• Knowledge of Traditional Foods preparation and cooking.

• Must have good work attendance and be dependable.

• Have strong communication skills and professionally articulate with plans and ideas.

• Maintain confidentiality at all times.

• Able to have a good working relationship with staff, partners, parents, volunteers.

• Ability to travel in and out of state.

• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License and auto insurance

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
