February 21, 1947 ~ August 26, 2019 (age 72)

Wanda "Quig" Lee (Antell) Jones, "Miskwaadesi ikwe" which means "Painted Turtle Woman", age 72, of NayTahWaush, Minnesota began her journey to the spirit world on Monday, August 26th, 2019 from the Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center in Aitkin, MN. Wanda was born in White Earth, MN on February 21, 1947 to Julia Beaupre and William Antell.

Quig always kept a bag packed. She loved taking short trips to visit her family and friends; especially her sisters in St. Paul and her sisters and their children in Redby, whom she had become very close to. As much as she like to travel, she enjoyed coming home to the peace and quiet of her own home. Quig's friends were lifelong, a couple of her very special friends were Gordon Mason and Eric Schissel. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, but her biggest pride and joy came from her sons and her grandsons, she spoiled them all. Quig would spend everything on those boys, even if it meant she went without.

Welcoming Wanda to the spirit world are her parents, Julia Hagen and William Antell; son, Charles Alex Jones; grandson, William Clifford Jones, Sr .; siblings, Michael, Yvonne, Renee and Lorna; daughter in law, Andrea Rae Ellis and other family members.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her sons, James (Patrice) Jones, Jr. of Cass Lake and Chris Ellis of NayTahWaush; sisters, Nancy Reed, Patricia Carson, Jean Knight, Cinder Warthen and Susie Hagen; brother, Robert Hagen, Jr .; lifelong friend, Richard Belcourt; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and her friends.

An overnight wake for Wanda will begin at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29th and continue until her 11:00 a.m. traditional service on Friday, August 30th, 2019 all to be held at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Waa-maajaa'iwed is Steve Jackson. Helping to lay Wanda to rest are Charles Jones, James Jones, Chris Ellis, Richard Ellis, Robert Blazer, Drew Curry and Austin Dailey. Her honorary pallbearers are Patrice Jones, Crystal Schoenborn-Cobenais and all her sisters Nancy Reed, Pat Carson, Jean Knight, Cinder Warthen and Susie Hagen. Interment will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN following her Friday services.
