Christopher Alan King, age 52, of Fond du Lac, passed Monday, August 26, 2019 at his home. He was born June 14, 1967 in Honolulu, HI to Rodney and Nancy (Howes) King. "Coach King" played collegiate football at Concordia College and Augsburg College where he received a BA in Elementary Education. He also received his coaching endorsement. Chris spent many seasons coaching high school and semiprofessional football. He loved coaching football. He especially loved the Green Bay Packers. Coach King inspired many athletes that they could be anything in life. His kind and gentle heart made him a special friend to many. His other love in life was teaching. Chris taught most of his career at Four Winds American Indian School in Minneapolis and the American Indian Magnet School in St. Paul. He had a passion for mentoring young Native American students. He was an enrolled member of Fond du Lac Reservation and was a huge Star Wars fanatic.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Howes; step-mother, Nadine King; step-father, Robert Glenn; and a step-brother, David DePoe. He is survived by father, Rodney King; brothers, Robert (Fawn McMillen) King, Jaime DePoe, Andrew (Christine) DePoe, and Roger (Vickie) Smith; sisters, Kathryn King, Michelle King, Patty (Fred) Petite, and Melanie (Dale) Sautbine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Fond du Lac Head Start Gymnasium (33 University Rd., Cloquet, MN 55720) and continue throughout the evening until the funeral service on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment service will follow at the Old Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements are with Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet.
