Minnesota woman accused of walking through traffic drunk while carrying infant, facing child endangerment charge

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Valley News Live)- A Walker, Minnesota woman is facing a child endangerment charge after court records say she walked through traffic on a Bemidji highway while holding her infant.

The alleged incident happened Sunday, near Paul Bunyan Drive South and Grant Avenue Southeast. Court documents claim Carol Martinez, 23, was walking on the highway with no shoes and carrying a child who appeared to be less than six months old.

Eventually a witness pulled over to see if Martinez was okay and that's when court records say she flopped her child down on the car. When police arrived, they said Martinez smelled strongly of alcohol. They say her blood alcohol level was around .27.

Martinez was arrested and now faces a misdemeanor charge of endangering a child.
