The move is on for Red Lake Trading Post - P2

RED LAKE, MN - The move is on for the new Red Lake Trading Post, which began on Monday, July 29, 2019 when they started relocating their existing gas pumps from their current site. Fuel will not be available until July 31st at their new location across the street.

In an earlier statement the Trading Post stated July 26 would be the final day to purchase frozen items at their existing store, as the freezers were being refurbished and relocated to the new facility. The old store was scheduled to be closed on August 5th to transfer equipment and inventory to the new location. Management stated they would officially be open at their new location on Saturday, August 10th.

There are a lot of changes taking place and in the future, including a Web Site, expanded departments, a seating area and new hours. Subway is scheduled to open in September of this year inside the store.

A Groundbreaking Ceremony was held for the new Red Lake Trading Post on Monday, August 14, 2017, at their new location across the street from the current one.

At a cost of over $10.2 million dollars, the new 27,000-square-foot project has been in the making for many years and will replace the smaller Red Lake Trading Post. It will also have a new laundromat, a new deli, a Subway restaurant and gas pumps.

The project has been funded using a U.S. Department of Agriculture guaranteed loan and the tax credits from the New Markets Tax Credit Program, which is administered by the U.S. Treasury Department and is meant to increase business' investment in low-income communities.

Their new facility is over three times as large as their current building, with one goal of stimulating Red Lake's own economy, instead of having their dollars travel off the reservation to such cities as Bemidji. The new store will increase jobs and provide more products for the communities on and around the Red Lake.Indian Reservation.
