Helen Condo, "Gagiige Benesiik – Forever Thunderbird Woman," 71, of Bemidji, MN died Monday, July 29, 2019 at her home.

Traditional Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Cass Lake Facility Center in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 5:00pm, Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at the Cass Lake Facility Center, and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at Family Burial Grounds in Onigum, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

She was born on June 19, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN the eldest child of Daniel Taylor and Eleanor (Riggs) Granle. She was raised and educated in Minneapolis. She was active in the AIM, and in the Little Earth Community. She moved to the Leech Lake area in 1990. She was very spiritual, a healer who enjoyed attending ceremonies and Pow-Wows. She was very generous, and was always there for everybody. She was a storyteller who enjoyed singing and speaking Ojibwe. She enjoyed reading, going to the Casino, watching soap operas, and she loved her cats and dogs.

She is survived by her: Sons, John Taylor,

Matthew (Debra) Hawthorne,

Grandchildren, Blake, Elizabeth, Paula, Wyatt, Jeffrey, Rebecca, Gabriel, Michael, Victoria, and Jimbo,

Several Great-Grandchildren,

Sister, Sophia Bisonette,

Brother, James Taylor,

Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Wade, Baker, siblings Chuck Taylor, Greg Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Eunice Taylor, Cindy Taylor, Elaine Taylor, and Kathy Taylor.

Active Casketbearers will be: Jared Norton, Clayton Taylor, Clinton Taylor, Benny Taylor, Ben Bongo, Nate Taylor, alternates will be Bobby Taylor and Danny Taylor.

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Jonessa Kingbird, Sophia Bisonette, Angela Reyes, Teddy Redwing, Debra Bearskin Hawthorne, and Elaine Fleming.
