Shot out to Red Lake and this young mans artistic abilities. Cody Loud Jr. attended Oscar Howe Art Institute in South Dakota [recently]. Only 20 students are chosen to attend every year.

Cody Loud

My name is Cody Loud and I'm a descendant from the Red Lake Nation in Minnesota. I live in a small touwn north of the Metro called St. Francis and have just graduated from high school there. I'll be heading off to college fairly soon and when I do, I will hopefully be majoring in architecture.

This year at Oscar Howe I had the pleasure of learning directly from experienced and talented artists such as Angela Babby and Edgar Heap of Birds; both of whom have left a lasting impression on how I view and hope to use art in the future. Angela showed me that I should never just settle for a media such as painting or drawing and that I should always be seeking out what may be the next innovative style. And, Edgar was able to guide me to the realization that communicating messages through my art is much more than what I previously thought. It's a means of opening the door to a conversation people might not have thought to have. This year of OHSAI has been a crucial step in understanding where I hope to be with my art in the future, both objectively and subjectively.
