CABLE INSTALLER - TEMPORARY

RED LAKE MIS/IT DEPARTMENT

Open: June 27, 2019

Closing: July 12, 2019 @ 3:00 p.m.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To install and maintain low voltage network; CCTV; security & communication cabling for systems and equipment used by the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. Temporary position, does not have supervisory responsibility, reports to IT Director, salary is DOQ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install and troubleshoot networking cabling; CCTV; security and telecommunications cabling and systems.

• Properly label all plant cabling.

• Maintain work orders in employee tracking system.

• Install hardware such as TV mounts, shelfing and network racks.

• Install peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards and printers

• Performs other duties as assigned

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Friendly presence and helpful attitude; good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

• Good problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.

• Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, be able to multitask effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations.

• Creativity; ability to think around problems and come up with creative solutions is helpful.

• Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School or GED Certificate

• Net+ & Low Voltage certifications get priority consideration.

• Possess good written and oral communication skills.

• Must be able to distinguish between colors for network cabling.

• Must be able to climb ladders in excess of 20 feet.

• Must be able to navigate crawl spaces and attics.

• Knowledge of computer network concepts.

• Must pass DOJ and Band background check.

• Must have valid Minnesota Driver's License.
