White Earth mourns death of man killed in crash who had just graduated, started job

WHITE EARTH RESERVATION — The White Earth Reservation is again mourning a loss, after 27-year-old Michael Tibbetts was killed Monday night, June 24, when his side-by-side utility vehicle was struck by a car just a few hundred feet from his parents' home.

The crash, which authorities said involved a Polaris Ranger side-by-side utility vehicle and a 1999 Mercury Marquis, happened just before 7 p.m. on County Road 158 and Wilkinson Lane in Maple Grove Township, 20 miles north of Detroit Lakes.
