Mahnomen County Has Highest Rate of Chlamydia in State Among Youth

(KBRF) - A new report indicates a northwest Minnesota county has the highest percentage of chlamydia cases among youth in the state. Researchers at the University of Minnesota are reporting alarmingly high rates of sexually transmitted infections among youth in the state.

The 2019 Minnesota Adolescent Sexual Health Report was put together by the University of Minnesota's Medical School. It found adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19 account for 25-percent of all chlamydia cases and 17-percent of all gonorrhea cases in the state, but only make up seven-percent of the population.

Mahnomen County had the highest rate of Chlamydia in the state among youth, while Hennepin had the highest rate of Gonorrhea.
