Llewellyn "John" Gene Kingbird, Sr., 51, of the Bear Clan and Warroad, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 from his home in Warroad, MN. He was born in Red Lake, MN on August 25th, 1967 to Dora and Clarence Kingbird.

John grew up and attended school in the Red Lake area. He had various jobs through the years, he was a custodian for the Ponemah Head Start Program, then a Substance Abuse Counselor for the Northern Winds Treatment Center and the Redby Group Home before becoming a "Drop Team" Member for the 7 Clans Casino in Warroad, MN. Some of John's hobbies were playing sports, especially softball and basketball, shooting pool with his buddies and fishing; but his favorite was his Keno. John loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his Lil buddy Haley Spears and enjoyed being around them as much as he could. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Family that welcome him to the spirit world are his parents; Dora and Clarence Kingbird, brothers; Clinton, Benjamin and Cornelious Kingbird, sister; Beverly Kingbird, grandparents; Norma and Charles Kingbird and Hazel Kingbird and Henry Cloud, niece; Ivory Chanel Johnson and numerous aunties and uncles.

He leaves behind his sons; Llewellyn G. Kingbird, Jr. and Jordan W. Kingbird, daughter; Anessa Faye Kingbird, grandchildren; Llewellyn G. Kingbird III, Debizi Niin-de Kingbird and Suzette Skye Kingbird, special son; Clinton Villanueva, sisters; Wanda Kingbird, Doreen (Shaun) French and Glendoris (Rick) Jones, brothers; Emerson Kingbird, Adrian (Leslie) Kingbird, Lawrence (Nadine) Kingbird and Calvin (Evelyn) Kingbird, Sr., uncle; Myron (Rose) Kingbird, Sr., special niece; Vanna Villanueva, many more nieces and nephews, other relatives and too many friends to mention.

A wake for John will begin at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19th and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional services on Friday, June 21st all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Waa-maajaa'iwed is Steve Jackson. Pallbearers will be Sheldon French, Dayton French, Roger Kingbird, Wayne Johnson, Jr., Gary Spears, Jr., Rick Jones and Tyson Deserly. Alternate pallbearers are Dustin Perkins, Scott Perkins, George Iceman and Dwight Perkins. Honorary pallbearers are Karla French, Brenda Kingbird, Loretta Escareno, Robin Kingbird, Leslie Kingbird and Melody Kingbird. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN.
