Collapsing Stars will play at 2nd Street Stage June 20. Social hour starts at 5 p.m., music runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second block of South Main in Downtown Park Rapids. Band members are Ally Strycharske, cello; Mike Langhoff, percussion, Adam Heaney, bass; and Justin Wayne Nelson, guitar, vocals.

The Park Rapids Downtown Business Association invites you to celebrate summer at 2nd Street Stage events Thursday evenings through Aug. 15 except July 4th. That week the concert will be Friday, July 5.

This will be the eighth year of the great community get-together that 2nd Street Stage has become.

The free concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m. (7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8) with bands, a beer garden, cornhole tournaments and family activities on the second block of South Main. Bring your own lawn chair.

The beer garden will open at 5 p.m. for a social hour while you find your spot, listen to the sound check and greet neighbors and friends. Support this great event by buying an official 2019 button and receive $2 off all beverages at the beer garden.

Lamb Weston/RDO will sponsor a fun night Thursday, June 20 with free french fries and Collapsing Stars, a Twin Cities-based band. Named a top 100 SXSW artist by National Public Radio Music, Collapsing Stars bring a blend of blues, roots, folk and Americana sounds with a hint of modernity. In the last few years they've earned producer credits on a record for Rhymesayers Entertainment, played a showcase at the renowned Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and in 2016 performed for over 120,000 people at Red Bull Crashed Ice. Their debut record titled '2012' has received some noteworthy accolades including praise from Dan Wilson, the Semisonic frontman who has co-written songs for the Dixie Chicks, John Legend, Weezer and Adele's 2011 hit Someone Like You. In 2018 they were selected as an official SXSW artist out of a pool of over 8,000 applicants. NPR Music named them a top 100 SX artist out of 2,000 showcasing acts.

Arrive at 5 for the social hour, sponsored by Lee Davis Electric.

Weekly stage sponsor is R.D. Offutt Farms. TruStar Federal Credit Union is weekly sound sponsor. This activity is also made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
