Thomas Michael Gerard, age 69 of Cloquet died Sunday, June 9, 2019 in his home. He was born August 9, 1949 in Duluth, MN to Frank and Norma (Anderson) Gerard. Tom graduated from Cloquet High School and CSS with honors. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam Era. He was employed various places throughout his career and retired from Sappi.

Tom was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and volunteered with the DAV. He was very involved with the DAV Brat Wagon and helped to promote success of the fund-raising efforts. Tom an avid Detroit sports fan, Lions, Tigers and Red Wings. Locally, he was a UMD Hockey fan, and traveled to the last three national championship games to name a few. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Tom was passionate about spending time with his family and grandchildren, and he attended many events and games of his precious grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Frank; and sister, Mary Malvick. He is survived by his former wife, Patti Gerard; his sons, Steven (Dana), Joshua (Stacy) and Matthew (Kaylee) Gerard; his brothers, Jim (Ruth), Bill (June) and Frank (Mary) Gerard; sisters, Kathy St. John, Sue (Steve) Twaddle, Julie (Tom) Wieczorek, Jackie Maldonado, and Michele Golen; brother-in-law, Rod Malvick; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will start at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, 2101 14th Street, Cloquet with a lunch reception to follow. Interment was held in the MN State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth. Memorials may be directed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at suicidepreventionlifeline.org or the Carlton County DAV Chapter #18, P.O. Box 294, Cloquet, MN.
