Laurie June Headbird (Fernando), "Smit" 29 passed away June 5, 2019 in St. Cloud. She grew up in the Misson area of Cass Lake, MN. Laurie was born June 26, 1989 to Angela and Emmanuel "June" Headbird.

A wake for Laurie will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the Mission Community Center. Her funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Interment will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery at Cass Lake/Mission, MN. Pallbearers for Laurie are Tim Adams, Frank Wind, Byron Brown, Brad Croaker, Jordan Headbird, Nathan "Pat" Brown. Alternate pallbearers are Emmanuel Fairbanks Sr, Dave Magee, and Joe Ogema. Her honorary pallbearers are her nieces, nephews, her friends, and relatives.

Laurie always willing to help and provide entertainment with her charming personality. Many people have a good Laur story. She was always down to have a good time and would always try to make you smile or feel better in any way she could. She was a special person with a huge heart and always ready to lend a hand. She wouldn't want anyone sad and would want people to remember the good things about her.

The joys of her life were her two daughters; Mandi Marie and Paige Laurissa. She would tell them she loved them every chance she could. Also, near and dear to her are her nieces and nephews which she treated like her own.

Laurie was recently married to the love of her life Mateo Fernando of St. Cloud, MN.

She is survived by her two daughters Mandi Marie and Paige Laurissa, her mother Angela Headbird, we'eh Laurie Carlson, brothers Emmanuel (Angie) Fairbanks, Brian Fairbanks, Allen (Jennifer) Lego, sisters Marty (Steve) Lyons, Autumn LaGarde, Gina "Nayshe" (Joe) Headbird, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Those she joins in the spirit world are her father; Emmanuel "June" Headbird, her niece; Paige Brown, her husband; Mateo Fernando, her grandmother; Helen Headbird, her uncles; Bert, Randy, Kent, Thomas "Hoss", Gary "Gander" and Steven "Shuff", and her aunties; Mary Sue "Susie", Ruth, Linda, and Phyllis.

We will always miss you sister.
