Robert “Punk” Louis Wakanabo, Jr., (PUNK BLD) 69, of Cass Lake, MN died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake.

He was born May 10, 1950 in Cass Lake, MN the son of Robert Ray Wakanabo, Sr. and Lucille Marie Wakanabo. He graduated from Nicolet A.V.T.C., in Rhineland, WI in 1976. He worked for the Minnesota DNR from 1976-1980. He was involved in Alternative Arts in Bemidji from 1980-1986. He was a Northern Minnesota District Court Advocate. He lost his only child Breanna Leigh Wakanabo, to a school bus accident in November of 1985. He was named school bus safety task force chairman. He advocated school bus drivers training.

He is survived by his mother, Lucille Wakanabo, brothers, Vern and Ronald Wakanabo, nieces, Nikki Carlson, Kayla Wakanabo, nephew, Buster Carlson, grand nephews, Matic Wakanabo, Lyle Staples, and William Wakanabo, and his grand niece, Lilliana Staples, longtime partner, Joyce Graves.

He was preceded in death by his grand parents, Sam Raisch and Mary Raisch, father, Robert Wakanabo, sister, Jennifer Wakanabo, and his only child, Breanna Leigh Wakanabo.
