Red Lake Elementary School Students to Discover What Makes our Bodies Work during Summer STEM Programming

RED LAKE, Minn. – The Bakken Museum is heading to Red Lake to share hands-on summer science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) learning experiences with students. On June 10 and 11, 100 students at the Red Lake Elementary School will discover how the body's systems work together and explore what makes humans alike, and what makes us individuals, through the GSK Science in the Summer™ workshop.

"Science of Me is a great way for young people to see how science is part of our everyday lives," said The Bakken Museum Associate Director of Education Anika Taylor. "We hope each student walks away with new knowledge and a growing curiosity about science, technology, education and math."

This is the second year that The Bakken Museum has partnered with Red Lake Elementary to provide summer education programs at Red Lake Elementary School.

"Staff from The Bakken Museum are so enthusiastic. Their love of science is contagious and the children can't help but get involved," said Red Lake Elementary School Dean of Students Arleen Swenson. "Red Lake Elementary is very fortunate to have Bakken Museum come and share their love of science and learning with our students."

GSK Science in the Summer is a fun way for students on to engage with STEM education during their summer break. This program is sponsored by GSK, developed by The Franklin Institute, and conducted by The Bakken Museum.
