Celebrated, award-winning chefs and restaurateurs set to juror the first annual Powderhorn Culinary Arts Show

Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) is proud to present the first-annual Powderhorn Culinary Arts Show, a juried outdoor food and beverage competition for professional and junior culinary artists from across the country on Saturday, October 19th, 2019. The Powderhorn Culinary Arts Show is thrilled to announce our 2019 jurors; Kim Bartmann, Chef John Kraus, Chef Nathan Sartain and Sue Zelickson.

Kim Bartmann is a triple-bottom-line restaurateur and professional instigator, launching eateries in re-imagined spaces since 1991. Her expertise in and talent for identifying the food people want to eat that also does good for the global community make her an exciting judge. Chef John Kraus of Patisserie 46 has collected many awards and accolades throughout his career. His exceptional talents offer finalists a peek into his world as he critiques their food. James Beard Award winner, Sue Zelickson continues to be a culinary inspiration on the local and national scene. Sue is the founder of the Charlie Awards, Women Who Really Cook, and the Kid's Café at Perspectives Family Center. She has a deep passion for connecting the community to the food world. And Chef Nathan Sartain is program director and instructor at Saint Paul College Culinary Arts. He is an award winning culinary educator and brings his years of experience to the jury panel.

This event will provide 60 finalists an opportunity to showcase and keep the sales from a singular food or beverage entry from one of five categories and win an award in their category. Applicants can apply through June 3rd.

Event access is free to the public and will also feature half-a-dozen notable experiences including a beer garden, pumpkin patch pop-up, kitchen gadget pop-up, and garden shop to name a few.

PPNA gathers, builds, and mobilizes in support of the Greater Powderhorn community in South Minneapolis. This 38-year-old nonprofit prides itself in creatively implementing its mission through a variety of events, advocacy and partnerships. Proceeds from the show will help further PPNA advocacy efforts to improve livability and safety, housing justice, and equitable development in the community.
