PLUMBER/CARPENTER

Elderly Maintenance Program

PRIMARY FUNTION:

Experienced Plumber/Carpenter to efficiently undertake a variety of plumbing and carpentry tasks ranging from fixing leakages to installing pipes and HVAC systems. Job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. Reports to Director, full time with benefits, Salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of plumbing, waste disposal and water supply systems.

• Cut, assemble and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure. Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed

• Install and maintain water supply systems

• Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements

• Locate and repair issues with water supply lines. Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items

• Repair domestic appliances (e.g. washing machines) and fixtures (e.g. sinks) etc. Lay out floorings, roofing's or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible

• Install and maintain gas and liquid heating systems (air-conditioning units, radiators etc.)

• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated

• Install waste disposal and sanitary systems with well-functioning DWV systems. Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance

• Build scaffolding and other construction structures

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship and also carpentry apprenticeship program is required

• Proven experience as a plumber and carpenter

• Solid understanding of water distribution and disposal systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials

• Working knowledge of heating and ventilation systems as well as appliances. Must have enough knowledge of hydraulic systems

• Excellent understanding of carpentry and methods of installation and construction

• Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers, etc.) Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.)

• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read technical documents and drawings

• Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times

• Good understanding of basic math

• Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work in awkward spaces.

• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's License and auto insurance

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
