2019 Commissioned Officer Foundation Anchor & Caduceus Dinner

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indian dancers and drum group shared a cultural presentation to welcome attendees of the 2019 Commissioned Officer Foundation Anchor & Caduceus Dinner in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Under the coordination of Red Lake Hospital CEO Norine Smith and Deputy CEO Linda Bedeau, the group shared the story of the Jingle Dress as a traditional healing dance and demonstrated an example of how IHS facilities are collaborating within communities to improve health outcomes through better partnerships. The Red Lake troupe shared the importance of education in impacting health outcomes and reducing social risk factors while retaining culture as the center of wellness. The group performed for the United States Surgeon General and the HHS Assistant Secretary for Health in addition to other distinguished guests.
