A coalition of elected Minnesota officials and legal advocates wants to make it the law that a student cannot be denied a diploma over a lunch debt.

It took a private donation of thousands of dollars from an anguished mother to pay off school lunch debts of seniors at a Minnesota high school before they could graduate.
