WALSH COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live)- A Walsh County man is arrested for murder after court documents say he shot and killed his daughter Wednesday morning.
The Walsh County Sheriff's Office received a report of a suicidal man with a firearm, who was found out to be 66-year-old Steven Aune.
Documents say upon arrival officers tried to make contact with Aune who seemed upset.
When asked why he was upset, Aune told officers he's "tired of his kids leaching off him," and "the kids need to be out of my house."
Documents say an altercation occurred between Aune and his daughter. Another family member told officers that she was inside the home when she heard a pop sound and found Stephanie leaning over a kitchen table.
Documents say Stephanie Aune was taken to First Care Hospital by the family member who found her.
She had a gun shot wound to her abdomen and later died at the hospital.
Court documents Steven Aune never gave aid to Stephanie after he shot her.
Steven Aune is charged with a felony for murder.
Records show Aune is on bond with conditions. He's expected to have a preliminary hearing May 23rd.
