LAPWAI, ID – The Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee has declared a state of emergency and is asking for volunteers. The emergency is heavy flooding on and near the Nez Perce Reservation. Creeks and rivers are expected to rise leading to more and worsening flooding. That, in turn, can lead to landslides, rockslides, and mudslides.
If you can help, they need volunteers to load and lay sandbags. Call Rebecca Miles at (208) 791-7732. You can also just show up at the Appaloosa Bus barn at 44335 US Highway 95 in Lapwai.
