8A East Championship – #1 Cass Lake Bena 84 vs. #3 Red Lake 41

The Cass Lake-Bena Panthers never trailed as they advanced to the Section 8A Championship game. The Panthers closed the first half on a 32-4 run and took a 41-12 lead into halftime.

Cass Lake-Bena connected on 14 three pointers from seven different players as they improved their overall record to 28-1. The only loss suffered by Cass Lake-Bena came on February 5th when they lost at home to Mahnomen/Waubun 64-36.

The Warriors committed 33 turnovers as they end their season at 18-11.

Cass Lake-Bena didn't turn the ball over until 2:13 remained in the first half.

RaSean Connor came off the Cass Lake-Bena bench and hit five three pointers and led the Panthers with 15 points.

Justin Barrett led Red Lake with 16 points.

Thirteen players scored for the Panthers and committed only six turnovers in the game.

Cass Lake-Bena will play Ada-Borup/NCW in the Section 8A Championship game on Friday, March 15th in Thief River Falls (7:00 pm on 106.5 FM). Cass Lake-Bena defeated Ada-Borup 66-53 in last years Section 8A Championship game and the two teams did not face each other during the regular season this year.
