Heroin laced with Fentanyl seized

RED LAKE, MN - On Friday March 29, 2019, the Red Lake Department of Public Safety Drug Task Force Team in assistance with the Emergency Response Unit served a search warrant targeting controlled substances at a Redby residence and arrested a total of 7 individuals for controlled substance offenses and outstanding warrants.

Officers performing the search located heroin which was later tested and contained fentanyl, methamphetamine and large quantities of drug paraphernalia in addition to locating a handgun in a vehicle occupied by two persons prohibited from carrying firearms. There was also one child present in the residence.

The following 4 individuals were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, disorderly house, unlawful transportation of controlled paraphernalia and child endangerment and 2 of the four were subsequently charged with a weapon violation and are identified as;

1) Phillip Jonathan Lussier-Age 49

2) Alaina Danae Prentice-Age 38

3) Patrick Ray Tawaha- Age 37 (DOC warrant-weapon)

4) Jorel Lee Martell-Age 34 (weapon)

The following two were charged with unlawful transportation of controlled paraphernalia and one was arrested for an outstanding warrant and are identified as;

5) Scott Lee Pemberton-Age 36

6) William Frank Roy-Age 45

7) Julia Lucille Oakgrove-Age 42 (tribal warrant)

All 7 individuals were transported to the Red Lake Detention Center and will be arraigned in Tribal Court and the investigation is ongoing.

Please note that some opiate products circulating throughout Red Lake communities may possibly contain fentanyl and community members should be mindful about the immediate and devastating effect of fentanyl and are encouraged to call law enforcement even if a family member is a victim of overdose at home and is revived with Narcan so the source of the drug sale can be located to prevent additional victim overdoses.
