BP: BHS installs QR codes on Ojibwe signage so people can hear the language

Signage at Bemidji High School now includes a QR code that will pronounce words such as gichi mawanji'idiiwigamig, or auditorium, in Ojibwemowin. (Jillian Gandsey | Bemidji Pioneer)

BEMIDJI-How do you say "auditorium" in Ojibwemowin?

A project at Bemidji High School aims to help. Students and staff there Thursday morning put up 29 QR codes adjacent to existing signs for the school's bathrooms, academic departments, offices and its gichi mawanji'idiiwigamig-auditorium. Students, staff, and visitors can scan the codes with a smartphone to check out a short pronunciation guide.
