Brian Lee Sumner, age 34, of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Brian was born on August 24, 1984, in Red Lake to Donald and Margaret (Roberts) Sumner Sr. He grew up in Red Lake and attended school there. Brian was an active outdoorsman who, at a young age, started working with his dad in the logging business. Together they started their own company called Sumner Logging. Brian also worked for Red Lake Forestry for many years operating heavy equipment and became very skilled with the bobcat. He was a hard-working man and took pride in his work.

Brian enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He also enjoyed working out and spending time and joking around with his friends and family. He was very protective of his family, especially his two sons Bryton and Brayden and daughter Breia, and enjoyed helping others.

Brian was preceded in death by his father; nephew, Peter James Mason Jr .; his grandparents, Allen "Jimmy" and Agnes Roberts; grandfather, John Sumner Sr .; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brian is survived by his mother; two sons, Bryton and Brayden Sumner; daughter, Breia Sumner; grandmother Donna Sumner; sister, Martina Marie Roberts; brother, Donald Sumner Jr .; special brother, Cody Roberts Sr .; good friend, Don Wille; and Nora Parkhurst, mother of Bryton and Breia.

A wake for Brian will begin at the Red Lake Community Center at 4:00 pm, on Thursday, March 28, and will continue until the service on Saturday, March 30, at 1:00 pm also held at the Red Lake Community Center. Pallbearers for Brian will be Cody Roberts Sr., Christopher Sumner Sr., Duane Spears Jr., David Dudley Sr., Roland Lussier Jr., and Ryan Neadeau Sr. Alternatives are Robert Neadeau Jr. and Bruce Sayers Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Roxanne Roberts, Alyssa Roberts-Lussier, Kendall Lussier, Ken'Drell Roberts, Shalaina Stately, Ramona Sayers, Danielle May, Rayshayna Roberts, Shantel Brun, and Don Wille.
