Construction continues for new $10.4 million Red Lake Retail Center

Grand Opening expected in June of this year

RED LAKE, MN - Construction began in May 2018 for the new Red Lake Retail Center, located adjacent to the current Red Lake Foods across the street, and continues into March.

According to Harvey Roy III, CEO of Ogaakaaning Enterprises, the new Retail Center will be 26,803 square-feet and will include a fuel station, a restaurant, and new Laundromat.

In a press release in May 2018, the interior will include a larger deli, a larger produce section, new butcher shop, and space to include hundreds of new retail items that couldn't be sold in the store we currently occupy because of space limitations.

The new facility will be over three times as large as their current building, and will be located across the street from the current store. The overall goal has always been to stimulate Red Lake's own economy and provide more products and services to Tribal members. The new store will also mean more jobs for Tribal members.

The total cost of the project is roughly $10.4 million dollars and has been funded using a U.S. Department of Agriculture guaranteed loan and the New Market Tax Credits Program, which is administered by the U.S. Treasury Department. Native American Bank will be the principal lender of the project. Red Lake Builders, Inc. is the General Contractor of the project.

According to Chairman Seki in his State of the Band Address earlier this year, they are expecting the Grand Opening of the new Red Lake Retail Center in June, 2019.
