PRIMARY FUNCTION

To provide ongoing monitoring and involvement in all ICWA cases in the Southern half of the State of Minnesota. Family & Children Services is a culturally based program providing child protection, crisis intervention, foster care, family preservation, reunification and crime victim services to the Red Lake

Reservation and its members. Reports to Executive Director, full-time position with benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Service Area: Southern half of the State of Minnesota and Hennepin county

• Case Management service delivery will include:

 Coordinating receipt of all ICWA notices including: Completing an intake forms, processing an enrollment verification request, responding in writing to all ICWA notices received;

• Maintain active involvement of all ICWA cases involving Red Lake children in designated service area

• Attend court hearings, administrative reviews, staffing's as required to track all assigned ICWA cases

• Advocacy-including court advocacy on behalf of the client as required o Information and referral as appropriate for parents and children

• Work closely with Foster Care Worker to facilitate placement of ICWA children on reservation o Child Welfare Targeted Case Management

• Data collection: Maintain client information and files including; Client progress and activities, complete required forms, case records, all correspondences on client, compliance or non-compliance by counties or states as it relates to ICWA

• Submit monthly reports: On clients served, client progress, and project activities

• Meetings/Staffing(s); attend ICWA Commission meetings, approved workshops and conferences outside the program to enhance knowledge of child protection issues, and attend supervision, administrative reviews, screenings and staffing's as needed or requested

• Maintain open communication and working relationship with the county or State. Responsible for assigned ICWA cases

• Participate in appropriate community committees or task forces as assigned by the Director

• Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies, programs and institutions in assigned service area as well as local area

• Participate in community, program outreach, public relations activities as required

• Represent the program and Tribal Council at appropriate community functions as required

• Able to maintain STRICT confidentiality

• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Human Service/Social Work Degree, related field or experience

• Knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act and Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act

• Knowledge of the criteria defining child abuse, sexual abuse and neglect

• Excellent communication skills, including writing ability

• Must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively

• Must be flexible in working remotely

• Must have a valid Minnesota Driver's license and auto insurance

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check
